How to post a project

Post a problem in plain English for free, or start from an app idea or a workflow design. We call within 2 working days to scope it.

Posting a project is free and there is nothing to install. Press "Post a project" in the header on any page. The form is at the bottom of the page that opens.

The form

Required:

  • "Business name"
  • "Your name"
  • "Work email"
  • "Team size"
  • "Open to hiring the intern afterwards, if they are good?"
  • "What do you want done? Plain English is perfect." A few sentences is enough. Write it the way you would explain it to a new hire.
  • The box "I can read the trainee's weekly check-in and approve the work on my dashboard, about an hour a month, and will write a short reference letter if the work is good."
  • The box "I have read the Business Agreement." The link opens the agreement in a new tab.

Optional:

  • "Website" and "City and state".
  • "You may name us as a participating business on your site." Leave it unticked if you would rather not be named. You can change this later on your dashboard.

Press "Post a project".

What happens next

You see "Project received. We will call within 2 working days to scope it with you." We also email you, with an "Open your dashboard" button that signs you in.

On the dashboard you can take the 15-minute AI interview to turn the problem into a brief, or wait for our call. See Getting started as a business owner.

Start from an app idea or a workflow

On "Build instead of renting", "Build this app and start saving" opens the form with a description of that app already in "What do you want done?".

On a workflow design, "Post this as a project" does the same with the design's title and first section.

In both cases you can edit the text before you send it, and the project remembers where it came from. Projects that start this way are matched with an intern automatically once they are approved. See Starting from an app idea or a workflow.

If something goes wrong

  • "A project has already been posted with this email." Reply to our earlier email if you want to add another project, or sign in and use the AI interview.
  • "Some answers need attention." A field is marked with what to fix.
  • Getting started as a business owner

Two ways to set up a project, posting a problem on the form or taking the AI interview, and what happens after each.

  • Starting from an app idea or a workflow

Start a project from an app idea on "Build instead of renting" or a design in the workflow library. Such projects are matched with an intern automatically once approved and their facts confirmed.

  • What the agreements say, in plain words

The Intern Agreement, the refund policy, the Business Agreement, the Mutual NDA, and the Retainer and Contractor Agreements, each in a few lines, and where to read the full text.
