The refund policy is clause 4 of the Intern Agreement. It is also on its own page: "Refund policy" in the footer, or /agreements/refunds. The Pricing page sums it up in plain words next to each plan.
You get the whole fee back if
- you withdraw within 14 days of paying, if you have not completed the second module of the course, or
- we cannot offer you an internship within 90 days of your capstone approval.
You do not get a refund
- once an internship starts. Your internship starts when we match you to a business and send you its brief.
- because you were not hired. A hire, a paid contract or a referral at the end is a chance, not a promise, and not getting one is not a reason for a refund.
Outside the two cases above, the fee is not refundable.
Extra placements
The course fee covers one placement. Each extra placement you add ($50 for a placement at another business) has its own fee and its own rules:
- a full refund of that fee if we cannot offer you that placement within 90 days of it becoming due. It becomes due on the later of the day you pay for it and the day the placement before it is completed;
- a full refund of that fee if you cancel it before we match you for it, from "Your account";
- no refund of that fee once that placement starts: when we match you to the business and send you its brief.
Each fee stands alone. A refund of one extra placement never changes the course fee or another extra placement's fee. See Extra placements at other businesses.
How refunds are made
Refunds under these rules are made automatically; you do not have to ask.
- Withdrawing (the first case above). On "Your account", press "Withdraw and get a refund", tick the box and press "Yes, withdraw and refund me". The course closes for you and the refund starts at once. If 14 days have passed since you paid, or you have already completed the second module, the page says so and why, and offers no refund. Module 1 does not count: finishing it, on the free Starter account or after paying, leaves this rule open.
- No internship in time (the second case). A daily check refunds your fee once 90 days have passed since your capstone approval without an internship offered. You keep your account and the course; we stop looking for a placement for you. Any extra placement you paid for is refunded with it.
- Extra placements. Cancelling one before it is matched refunds it at once; one not offered within 90 days of it becoming due is refunded by the same daily check.
A card payment is refunded to the card you paid with; when it shows on your statement is up to your bank. A payment made another way, such as a bank transfer, is sent back by the same method. Each refund is listed under "Refunds" on "Your account", with where it stands, and we email you when it is issued.
How to ask
For anything else about a refund, write to hello@aiharnesslabs.com. A refund goes back to the card or account you paid with.
Starter is free
A free Starter account costs nothing, so there is nothing to refund. See Starter: try the course free.
Payments that did not go through
If a card payment did not go through, nothing was charged, so there is nothing to refund. The payment page says so and lets you try again. See Paying for the course.
