Extra placements at other businesses

The fee covers one placement. How to add a second or third business, what each costs, the order we match in, and how to cancel one for a refund.

The course fee, $300, covers one internship placement at one US business. Extra placements are optional: each is a placement at a different business from every one you have had, for $50 each, up to 3 placements in all. A placement is a chance, not a promise. The Pricing page lists the totals for each number of businesses.

Add them when you pay

The payment page lists the choices and their totals, from "1 business" (the fee alone) up to 3 businesses. Pick one and press "Pay" with the total shown. Paying by bank transfer instead? Tell us how many businesses when you write to us, and we record them with your payment.

Add one later

On "Your account", under "Your placements", pick how many under "Businesses to add" (when you can add more than one), then press "Add another business:" with the fee ($50 each). You pay by card through Stripe and come back to your account page, which then says "Payment received". The button shows while you have fewer than 3 placements. You get the email "Payment received for your extra placement". The "Add another business" link on the course home takes you there.

If online payment is not switched on, the card says so instead: reply to any email from us and we send bank transfer details for an extra placement.

The order we match in

Placements run one at a time, never two at once. Your next placement becomes due when the one before it is completed (or on the day you pay for it, if that is later). We match everyone waiting for a first placement before anyone waiting for a second, and a second before a third; then the longest wait first. You are never matched with a business you have already had.

When we match you, the email says "Placement 2" (or 3) and the business's name, with the brief and your contact, as for your first placement.

Your placements

Your course home and "Your account" list every placement as "Placement 1 of 2" and so on, with the business, the status, and a link to the review and the reference letter. Placements you paid for and that are not matched yet show "Paid, waiting for a business", or "Paid, starts after the placement before it". Your public page lists every completed placement when it shows your internship outcome.

Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel an extra placement until we match you for it: press "Cancel and ask for a refund" under it, then "Yes, cancel it". The refund of that fee starts at once: a card payment goes back to the card you paid with and you get "Your refund has been issued."; a bank transfer is sent back the same way and you get "Your refund is being arranged." first. It is listed under "Refunds" on "Your account".

Each extra placement is also refunded in full if we cannot offer it within 90 days of it becoming due. Once it is matched (the business and its brief are sent to you), its fee is not refundable. Each fee stands alone: a refund of one never changes your course fee or another placement's fee. See Refunds.
