Matching and your internship page

How you are matched with a business after your capstone is approved, and what the internship page shows: the business, the plan, the brief and what must never be automated.

Once your capstone is approved, you are in the placement queue. We match trainees to business projects in the order they finish. Open "Internship" in the menu at the top to see where you are.

Before you are matched

The page says "You are in the placement queue" once your capstone is approved, or "After your capstone" before that. Nothing for you to do: we email you the moment a project fits.

Some projects are matched automatically with the learner whose capstone was approved first; others we match by hand. Either way you get the same email.

If we cannot offer you an internship within 90 days of your capstone approval, a daily check refunds your fee in full and we stop looking for a placement for you. You keep the course, and the internship card on the course home says "Fee refunded". See Refunds.

The match email

"Your internship:" and the business's name. It has your contact at the business, the brief, and an "Open your internship page" button.

Your internship starts at matching, when the brief is sent. See Refunds for what that means for the fee.

What to do first

  1. Read the brief.
  2. Sign the NDA with the business before you see anything beyond the brief. Your internship page shows "Sign the NDA" with the Mutual NDA filled in: your name and city, the business and its owner, the project and the date. Read it, tick "I accept this Mutual NDA as" your name and press "I accept". The owner accepts the same NDA on their project page; the card says "Waiting for" whoever has not yet, then "Signed by both". Your signed copy, and the owner's, open from the card ("View signed copy").
  3. Write to your contact this week to set up the scoping call. The page says "Matched. Write to your contact this week to set up the scoping call."

The internship page

From the top:

  • The business name and a status line: "Matched", "In progress", "Completed" or "Ended early".
  • "Mutual NDA": "Sign the NDA" until you have accepted it, then who has signed ("Waiting for" a name, or "Signed by both") with each signed copy. Internships matched before 6 October 2026 do not have it: their NDA was signed outside the site.
  • "Your internship, in four parts": the brief and contacts, the weekly check-in, the AI mentor chat, and the outcome and letter.
  • "The business": its city, "Contact:" with the owner's name and email, and its website.
  • "Plan": your mentor ("AI mentor", or a person and the AI mentor), the expected length, and the start date. Until the start date is set it says "After the scoping call".
  • "The brief": what to build. "The brief is being written." means it is not ready yet.
  • "Never automated": what the owner said must never be automated. The gateway refuses any draft or message from your agent that mentions one of these. If it says the owner has not said yet, ask them before you automate anything that reaches a customer.
  • "From the owner: the board's note", when the owner has sent you a note from their board of advisors: the advisor, the owner's question, the answer, its "Based on" line and the owner's own line. Advisors only suggest. Check the note against the facts, then write under "Reply to the owner" the steps you propose (or why not) and what needs their approval first, and press "Send reply". The owner reads it under the note on their board and gets an email the first time; "Update reply" changes it without a second email. Once the internship closes, replies are read-only. See the lesson "Working alongside the board of advisors".
  • "What you're building", while the internship is open: the list of what you are building for the owner, which they read on their project page. "Draft items from the brief" proposes items from the brief; tick the right ones, edit the names and press "Add the ticked items". Nothing is shown to the owner until you do. "Add an item" adds one by hand, and "Edit" renames one or changes its status. When an item becomes "Live" or "Waiting for the owner's approval", the owner gets one email listing the changes of that check-in or save.
  • "Weekly check-ins": see Weekly check-ins.
  • "Your mentor": the AI mentor chat. See The AI mentor chat.
  • "Your agent's access" and "Your agent's go-live check": see Your agent's access and go-live check.
  • Once recorded, the outcome and "Download your reference letter" appear near the top, under the status line. At the end come referrals and the placements listing. See Outcome and reference letter.

More than one placement

The fee covers one placement. If you add extra placements, they run one at a time: the next one becomes due when the one before it is completed. We match everyone waiting for a first placement before anyone waiting for a second, and you are never matched with a business you have already had. The match email then starts "Placement 2:" (or 3) and the business's name.

The internship page always shows your newest placement. Every placement, with its business, status and reference letter, is listed under "Your placements" on the course home and on Your account. See Extra placements at other businesses.

Your data and theirs

Use sample or synthetic data wherever you can. Never ask for or keep the owner's passwords. Your agent works on their accounts only through the gateway, with a token the owner gives you.

  • Weekly check-ins

Post one short update a week on your internship page: what shipped, what is blocking you, and what comes next. Thursday brings a reminder if you have not.

  • The AI mentor chat

Ask the AI mentor under any lesson during the course, and on your internship page during the internship. What it knows, what it will not do, and its daily limits.

  • Your agent's access and go-live check

How your agent acts on the business's accounts through the gateway with a token the owner issues, what rehearsal and live mean, the request log, and the QC sheet you can read.

  • Extra placements at other businesses

The fee covers one placement. How to add a second or third business, what each costs, the order we match in, and how to cancel one for a refund.
