Tasks and "Turn this into steps"

Turn an advisor note, an advisor's answer or a project proposal into one to four concrete steps on your Tasks list, then set who each one is for, its status and its due date, and download the list as JSON.

"Turn this into steps" sits on every advisor note and every project proposal in your interview, and on every answer from your board of advisors on the Advisors page. It writes one to four concrete steps and adds them to your Tasks list: one step when the note asks for one thing, more when it is a plan or a project. It never pads the list to reach a number.

Turn something into steps

  1. Open "Interview" or "Advisors" in the dashboard menu.
  2. Press "Turn this into steps" on a note or an answer from your board of advisors, or on a proposed or approved project.
  3. The steps are added to "Tasks". The button then says "On your Tasks list".

Pressing it again adds nothing. A dismissed proposal has no button.

Each step says what to do and who it is for: "You" for anything only you can do or decide (answering a question, choosing, sharing data, approving), "Your intern" for building, testing and writing up. Steps never send anything to a customer or move money without your approval, and they use no figures that are not in the note or your answers. They have no due date until you set one.

The Tasks list

Open "Tasks" in the dashboard menu. Open work comes first, done work last. For each task you can:

  • change the Status (To do, Doing, Done),
  • change who it is For (You, or Your intern),
  • set or clear the Due date,

then press "Save". "Remove" takes the task off the list. The intern on one of your projects can read the tasks set for them.

Download the list

"Download tasks as JSON" saves the whole list in the Business Suite's task import format (version 1). Each task keeps the same id in every download, so importing the same file twice adds nothing twice.

  • The board of advisors

Six AI advisors (finance, marketing, operations, sales, technology and risk) read your interview and your records, leave short notes and answer your questions any time from your dashboard. What they read, the daily limit, and how to turn an answer into steps.

  • Proposals and approval

Read each proposed project, approve the ones you want with one click and dismiss the rest. An approved proposal becomes a scoped brief ready for matching.

  • The subscription review

List the software you pay for each month, in your own numbers, and get a plan of what a trainee could replace, what your apps should only connect to, and what to keep, with savings from your figures.
