Weekly check-ins and the scoping call

The first call settles what gets built; after that, a written check-in from your intern each week that you read on the project page, and the work to approve on your dashboard.

What we ask of you during an internship is up to an hour a month for each intern: read their weekly check-in, give clear answers when they ask what you need, and approve the work on your dashboard. There is no fixed weekly call; have a short call when either of you needs one.

The scoping call

Once an intern is matched, they write to you that week to set up the first call: the scoping call. It settles what gets built, so the intern spends the internship on what you need.

There is no booking tool on the site. Agree a time by email. On the call:

  • Walk through the brief together and agree what done looks like.
  • Agree what data the intern may use. Sample or synthetic data first.
  • Agree how the intern should reach you between check-ins.
  • Make sure the intern has signed your NDA.

After the call, we record the start date and the internship shows as "In progress". Until then, your project page shows "After the first call" as the start.

The weekly check-in

Each week your intern posts a short check-in: what shipped, what is blocking them, and what comes next. Read it on the project page; it tells you where they are stuck.

Open the project from your projects page and scroll to "Weekly check-ins". Each one is headed with its week and dates, and marked "edited" if the intern changed it. Check-ins are read-only: reply by email.

With each check-in your intern also moves the status of each item they are building and can write one line, "Next to go live". Both show under "What's being built" on the project page, above the check-ins. See Following what's being built.

If your intern has not posted by Thursday, we remind them. The guide's "Read this week's check-in" step appears when a new one is in.

When you need us

The founder can step in at any time, and will if you ask. If something is not working, write to hello@aiharnesslabs.com.

Stopping

You can stop at any time. You keep whatever has been built so far, and there is nothing to pay or cancel. Record it on the project page with the outcome "Ended early". See Completing an internship.
